The Department of Neuroscience is an academic and organized-research unit devoted to education and research on the development, organization, evolution, and function of nervous systems.
Research in the Department of Neuroscience includes projects based on the disciplines of cellular, developmental, molecular and systems neurobiology, neuroethology, and neurogenetics, targeting contemporary issues such as intra- and intercellular signaling, synaptic mechanisms, development of the central nervous system, information processing in sensory systems, insects as vectors of disease, mental retardation, evolution of neural systems, and biorobotics.
The Department of Neuroscience is a founding unit of the newly formed School of Mind, Brain and Behavior. The School, comprising the Departments of Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, and Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, promotes multidisciplinary study to further understanding of the relationships between mind, brain and behavior. |
