Photo/Graphics - Stitching images in Corel Photo-Paint 12

In Corel PHOTO-PAINT 12, you can stitch images together to create a single two-dimensional image. For example, if you have multiple EM negatives or Confocal images, you can easily align and assemble the sections.

To stitch images together

Open all of the images you want to stitch together in Photo-Paint.

*Note- Huge image files will slow this process down considerably so re-sample your images to get them close to the finished size before you attempt to stitch them together.

With all of the images to be stitched open, Click "Image" -> "Stitch".

*

The "Select Images" dialog box opens up. From the "Source files" list, click a filename, and click "Add" for each of the images you want to stitch together.

After clicking "Add" the files arrive in the "Selected Files" box.

Click OK. A new window opens with all of your files shown.

In the Image stitch dialog box, click the Selection tool -

In the image stitch window, use the selection tool to drag an image & align it with another image.

Click the Difference tool -

The black area indicates where the images overlap.

Click the Selection tool , and press the arrow keys on your keyboard to fine-tune the alignment. As the alignment improves, the highlight within the black area diminishes.

Adjust the "Blend image" number. This is the amount that the edges will be feathered, making the transition between the separate images less apparent. The higher the number the more the edges are feathered.

Enable one of the following options:

"Combine to background" – This creates a single image of all your individual images. This can not be un done later.

"Create objects from images" – Recommended – This creates a stitched image in which each source image continues to be a separate object. This option lets you adjust the brightness and contrast of each object so they match. It will also let you continue to "tweak" the alignment etc. in Photo Paint.

Click "OK" when you are done.
