Outreach - 2005 Invertebrates in Captivity Conference

The Sonoran Arthropod Institute's (SASI’s) annual Invertebrates in Captivity Conference brings together zoo, aquarium, museum, exhibit design, education professionals and the interested general public from around the world.

Paper presentations, workshops and field trips include such topics as: Invertebrate Husbandry, Educational Programs Using Invertebrates, Invertebrate Conservation Programs and Issues, Professional Development, Administrative & Regulatory Issues, Insect Zoos, Butterfly Houses and other Invertebrate Exhibitions. Participants also have an opportunity to explore Southern Arizona’s unique arthropod diversity.

 

Workshops included this one on Naturalistic Habitat Design taught by Paige Howorth from the San Diego Zoo's Children's Zoo.

Joe Warfel of Eighth-Eye Photography, helps a student during the Photography Workshop co-taught with Chip Hedgcock of ARLDN.

USDA Roundtable Discussion lead by: Mark Deering from the Sophia Sachs Butterfly house, Martin Feather from the San Antonio Zoo and Michael Weissmann from Kallima Consultants Inc.
