| Tucson
is a great place to enjoy outdoors. The city is surrounded by four
mountain ranges, the Santa Catalinas (to the north), the Santa
Ritas (to the south), the Tucson Mountains (west) and the Rincon
Mountains (east). The desert is spectacular, particularly in the
spring when many cactus and succulents bloom. This unique desert
is home to majestic saguaro. The Saguaro National Park is certainly
a beautiful place to visit and hike. The summer is a little bit
though around here, but that’s when you go up the mountains for
some relief and to enjoy the green shade of junipers, ponderosa
pine, oaks, even aspens, and many more. Mount Lemon, which is very
close to town, is a climber’s paradise, with more than 1,000 routes!
Just check the Tucson Climber Association web site for this and
other awesome climbing spots.
Tucson is also a biker’s paradise. Just from your doorstep, in less than a half
hour ride you’ll be cruising around roads in the middle of the
desert. Be sure you’ll hardly get wet (except in the Monsoon season….)!
Tucson hosts many races, including the “Tour de Tucson”. You might
want to check the web-site from the Greater Arizona Bicycle Association.
