Members
of the ARLDN faculty teach courses in the undergraduate core curriculum,
through several academic departments,
including Biochemistry, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Entomology, Molecular &
Cellular Biology, and Physiology, and under the auspices of the
University's Honors Program. Moreover,
the faculty members of the ARLDN all are actively involved in
the administration and implementation of the University's Undergraduate
Biology Research Program and, since its establishment in 1988,
have served as mentors to more than 200 undergraduate research
students.

ARLDN
faculty welcome a limited number of undergraduate students
into their laboratories each academic year for practical
training and mentoring. Students learn by doing; they are taught to design and conduct experiments, they analyze data,
they are encouraged to participate in laboratory meetings and
laboratory social functions and to attend departmental seminars. Many ARLDN undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in scientific
meetings and conferences on the U of A campus and occasionally
at regional and national meetings.
Students
interested in working in the ARLDN should contact individual
faculty.
